Mistreatment and coping among the urban geriatric population

Elder abuse is an underreported concern among urban elderly populations in India. Therefore, it is of interest to assess the mistreatment prevalence and coping strategies among elderly individuals in Chennai. Higher mistreatment was associated with age above 70 years, retirement and assistive device use. Better coping was associated with higher education, income and assistive device use. Thus, targeted interventions are needed to reduce elder abuse and strengthen resilience among elderly individuals.

Using the construction of the New Western Land-Sea Corridor as a quasi-natural experiment, this study examines its effects on new-type urbanization with provincial panel data for 2011–2023. 본 연구는 한국 고령자(65세 이상)를 대상으로 영역별 삶의 만족도(domain life satisfaction)가 유데모닉 웰빙(eudaimonic well-being)을 통해 전반적 삶의 만족도(general life satisfaction)와 어떠한 관련성을 갖는지 검증하고, 이 과정에서 행복에 대한 시간지향성(temporal orientation toward happiness)이 조절변수로 작용하는지를 분석하였다. 이를 위해 국회미래연구원이 실시한「2024년 미래인식 및 가치관 조사」자료를 활용하였으며, 65세 이상 응답자 3,997명을 최종 분석 대상으로 하였다. 영역별 삶의 만족도는 생활수준, 건강, 성취, 대인관계, 안전감, 공동체 소속감, 미래 안정성, 좋아하는 일에 사용할 수 있는 시간, 동네 환경에 대한 만족도의 9개 영역으로 구성하였다. 유데모닉 웰빙은 삶의 의미, 성취감, 자율성의 3개 문항으로 측정하였으며, 전반적 삶의 만족도와 행복에 대한 시간지향성은 각각 단일문항으로 측정하였다. 영역별 삶의 …
