This study examined strategies for prevention and control of monkey pox virus in selected local government areas in Imo state, Nigeria. Survey research design was used and questionnaire served as the instrument of data collection. The population of this study is 1,870,900 people. It covered the entire people in the 9 LGAs of Imo State selected. The analysis was done using Percentages, Mean and Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient (through SPSS version 21.0). It was discovered that there is significant major strategies for Prevention and Control of monkey pox virus. the major strategies for Prevention and Control of monkey pox virus include Public enlightenment on how one contact and prevent contact of monkey pox virus, Media education of causes and consequences’ of monkey pox virus, Environmental maintenances, and Public health education in the communities. The study recommended that there is need for the government to involve the public in its effort to take decision concerning health care so as to enhance appropriateness of health care services and equitable distribution of health services and the health workers should effectively provide public health information, orientation and care to prevent and treat monkey pos virus.
