Vollständiger Abstract
Worum geht es in dieser Arbeit?
This study describes the implementation process of an Narrative Approach to Adventure Therapy (NAT) group within a therapeutic community (TC) for individuals recovering from substance use. The purpose of the study was to provide a practice-based description of how NAT was implemented and how participants experienced self-identity reconstruction through the integration of adventure-based activities and narrative therapy conversations. The study adopted action research and qualitative case series design. Data were collected through session records, participant reflections, and facilitator notes, and analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings illustrate a recursive process of identity reconstruction involving confronting negative self-identity, reconnecting with self through experience,re-authoring identity through meaning-making, developing recovery identity in the community, within the therapeutic community context. The study suggests that NAT may complement existing TC interventions, such as the 12-step and mindfulness-based programs, by providing experiential and narrative pathways for identity transformation. This study contributes a practice-oriented process model and offers implications for integrating experiential and narrative approaches in therapeutic community settings.
