Vollständiger Abstract
Worum geht es in dieser Arbeit?
The mental health of healthcare professionals has become an increasingly important public health and occupational health concern. Healthcare workers are exposed to intense workloads, emotional demands, long working hours, staff shortages, organizational pressures, violence, ethical conflicts, and continuous responsibility for human lives. These conditions may contribute to stress, burnout, anxiety, depression, sleep disturbances, moral distress, and other forms of psychological suffering. This academic essay discusses the relationship between healthcare professionals' mental health, working conditions, associated factors, and challenges for care. Particular attention is given to workload, organizational culture, professional relationships, work-life balance, violence, precarious employment, moral injury, emotional demands, and barriers to seeking psychological support. The discussion also considers the consequences of workers' mental health for patient safety, quality of care, absenteeism, turnover, and sustainability of health systems. Mental health promotion among healthcare professionals requires more than individual resilience strategies and should prioritize organizational changes, supportive leadership, adequate staffing, safe workplaces, access to confidential care, and policies that recognize workers' psychological well-being as a fundamental component of healthcare quality.
