Vollständiger Abstract

Worum geht es in dieser Arbeit?

Road infrastructure is crucial for economic and social development, and digital innovation is needed to improve project outcomes in this sector. Building Information Modeling (BIM) is a transformative tool that can enhance road infrastructure projects through improved design visualization, better stakeholder collaboration, and more efficient project management. However, BIM adoption in the Malaysian road sector remains limited due to challenges such as low awareness, insufficient training, and resistance to change. This study adopts a qualitative approach, including in-depth interviews with public sector stakeholders, to examine BIM's impact on road project delivery and identify barriers to its broader uptake. Findings indicate that BIM significantly improves construction planning, enables real-time progress tracking, and aids cost control and clash detection, thus reducing delays and uncertainties. To overcome these hurdles, the study underscores the need for policy standardization, extensive industry training, and strategic implementation to advance the digital transformation of Malaysia's road infrastructure.
