Vollständiger Abstract

Worum geht es in dieser Arbeit?

This study aimed to analyze factors associated with knowledge of voluntary counseling and testing (VCT) among married women in Indonesia. A cross-sectional design was employed using secondary data from the 2017 Indonesian Demographic and Health Survey (IDHS) women’s dataset (IDIR71FL). A total of 15,562 married women aged 15–49 years were included in the analysis after the application of sampling weights. The dependent variable was VCT knowledge, while the independent variables included sociodemographic characteristics and HIV-related knowledge factors. Data were analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics version 26. Descriptive statistics were used to summarize respondents’ characteristics, while chi-square tests and binary logistic regression analyses were performed to identify factors associated with VCT knowledge. The results were reported as crude odds ratios (CORs), adjusted odds ratios (AORs), and 95% confidence intervals (CIs). Educational level, province, place of residence, wealth index, knowledge of HIV transmission, and exposure to HIV prevention communication were significantly associated with VCT knowledge (p < 0.05). Women with formal education had higher odds of adequate VCT knowledge (AOR = 2.72; 95% CI: 2.51–2.95). Respondents living in rural areas had lower odds of adequate VCT knowledge (AOR = 0.75; 95% CI: 0.71–0.95). Exposure to HIV prevention communication was identified as the strongest predictor of VCT knowledge (AOR = 1.99; 95% CI: 1.87–2.11). Overall, VCT knowledge among married women in Indonesia was associated with sociodemographic characteristics, socioeconomic status, HIV-related knowledge, and exposure to HIV prevention communication.
