Vollständiger Abstract
Worum geht es in dieser Arbeit?
This study examines the adoption of AI tools and public transportation policy in Metropolis, Akwa Ibom State. Specifically, it investigates the level of AI adoption, its benefits, and the challenges hindering its effective deployment in public transportation management. A descriptive survey design was adopted, with data collected from public officials, transport operators, and commuters using structured questionnaires. Descriptive statistics and inferential analyses were employed to interpret the data. Findings reveal that AI adoption in governance is present but still developing, with 32.0% of respondents rating it as high, 41.3% as moderate, and 26.7% as low. Key benefits identified include improved decision-making, enhanced efficiency, cost savings and better public service delivery. However, significant challenges persist, including poor infrastructure (30.7%), low technical skills (25.3%), data privacy concerns (22.7%), and high cost of AI systems (21.3%). Statistical analysis further indicates a significant relationship between AI adoption and improvements in public transportation policy in Metropolis (p = 0.001). The study concludes that while AI holds great potential to transform AI tools and public transportation services, its effective deployment in Metropolis requires strategic investments in infrastructure, human capacity development, and robust policy frameworks. Recommendations include targeted training for public officials, upgrading digital infrastructure, and developing ethical guidelines for AI implementation in public service.
