European Health Evidence

The European alternative to PubMed

EUVIMED is the European alternative to PubMed: a central, multilingual research platform for medicine, nursing, life sciences and healthcare. It brings together international and European literature sources, study registries, open-access full texts, citations and retraction notices in one search. Unlike pure bibliographic databases, EUVIMED supports the entire research process – from discovery and appraisal with LIVIA and CLARA to traceable evidence synthesis. European in focus, transparent, interoperable and designed for science and healthcare.

Vollständiger Abstract

Worum geht es in dieser Arbeit?

Digital transformation in the healthcare service sector has become a strategic imperative for maintaining operational efficiency and the quality of hospital services; however, its implementation remains characterized by disparities and organizational adaptation barriers. This study aims to comprehensively analyze digital transformation strategies in hospital services and formulate evidence-based managerial recommendations to improve service quality and organizational competitiveness. This study employs an integrative literature review approach by thematically analyzing 25 reputable scientific articles published between 2021 and 2026, focusing on the implementation of Hospital Management Information Systems (HMIS) and Electronic Medical Records (EMR). The synthesis identifies three strategic pillars that determine the success of digital transformation: system reliability and process workflows, human resource readiness and change management, and patient-oriented service for enhancing competitiveness. Technological reliability, such as EMR and external system integration, has been shown to reduce administrative waiting times; however, its effectiveness is largely determined by staff behavioral acceptance and transformational leadership. Practically and theoretically, this study contributes an integrative taxonomy that connects internal technical capabilities with external market value outcomes, while also providing a managerial roadmap for hospital executives to manage digital transitions effectively, sustainably, and with high competitiveness.
