Vollständiger Abstract
Worum geht es in dieser Arbeit?
As China's demographic dividend fades and per capita income enters the upper-middle-income range, sustaining growth depends increasingly on the intensive use of human capital rather than on expanding the labour force. Against this backdrop, workplace gender equality is required for China to develop in a high-quality manner under demographic pressure. Hangzhou and Tangshan are selected as case studies with different economic structures, and the impact of workplace gender equality on GDP per capita is studied. Hangzhou is a model of the digital economy with technology-intensive industries, innovation and more flexible employment, whereas Tangshan is a traditional industrial model based on manufacturing and heavy industry. Analyse the economic mechanism and examine how gender equality affects productivity, innovation and economic development in this paper. Other reasons for lower female labour force participation include career breaks, gender stereotypes and workplace discrimination. Therefore, the above data suggest that promoting gender equality in the workplace will help China make better use of its human resources and drive economic development and high-quality development.
