The Effect of Social Support on Successful Aging and Flourish among Pre-senior: A Study of Medical Aesthetic Users

This study aimed to investigate the effects of social support on successful aging and flourish among pre-senior women. The purpose of this study is to examine the role of social support in promoting healthy aging and psychological well-being and to provide foundational data for the development of counseling services and programs in the field of medical aesthetics for pre-seniors. This study was conducted from June 4 to June 10, 2026, with 300 economically active Korean women aged 40 to 49 nationwide who were currently using medical aesthetic services. The results were as follows. First, informational support had the strongest effect on autonomous life and self-efficacy, whereas emotional support had the greatest effect on active participation. Second, emotional support significantly influenced relationships and engagement, while informational support significantly affected accomplishment and meaning. These findings confirm the importance of multidimensional social support, including informational and emotional support. Furthermore, the findings suggest that the field of medical aesthetics should strengthen professional information provision and counseling tailored to clients’ characteristics and needs while providing emotional support to help clients cope with aging-related concerns and enhance self-satisfaction and self-confidence.
