Worum geht es in dieser Arbeit?
Introduction: paratesticular fibrous pseudotumor is a rare benign fibroinflammatory lesion that represents a diagnostic challenge because of its ability to mimic a malignant testicular neoplasm. Case presentation: a 43-year-old man with a history of blunt testicular trauma five years earlier presented with a painless left testicular mass of six months’ duration and progressive enlargement. Physical examination revealed a firm 3.0 × 2.0 cm mass without palpable lymphadenopathy. Serum tumor markers were within normal limits. Scrotal ultrasound demonstrated enlargement of the left testis with heterogeneous echogenicity and hypoechoic areas suggestive of a testicular neoplasm. Based on the suspicion of malignancy, a left radical orchiectomy was performed. Results: histopathological examination revealed a fibroinflammatory lesion located between the tunica vaginalis and tunica albuginea, without involvement of the testicular parenchyma, consistent with a paratesticular fibrous pseudotumor. Conclusion: paratesticular fibrous pseudotumor may present with clinical and imaging findings indistinguishable from those of a malignant testicular tumor. Awareness of this entity is important in the differential diagnosis of testicular masses because of its potential impact on surgical decision-making and treatment planning.
