Vollständiger Abstract
Worum geht es in dieser Arbeit?
Despite leisure’s therapeutic efficacy, few studies have focused on how leisure contributes to the rehabilitation of stroke survivors, particularly in the context of African countries. Using the Benefits Theory of Leisure Wellbeing and interview data from 41 stroke survivors, this study examines the role of leisure in the rehabilitation of stroke survivors. The findings revealed that leisure contributed to the rehabilitation of the stroke survivors by improving their psychological, emotional, and physical health. However, leisure participation had an unintended negative consequence on their psychological wellbeing by invoking sadness and worry. The implications of the findings for enhancing the rehabilitation of stroke survivors are discussed.
