This study examines the evolution of cinephilia in the digital age, tracing its transformation from the early 20th century avant-gardes to today’s dynamic digital landscape. It explores how diverse content, online communities, and new access formats have fostered a ‘videosyncratic’, interactive, and global cinephile culture.The research investigates the digital ecosystem that has democratized film consumption and production, encompassing streaming platforms, social networks, and film festivals. This ecosystem has not only expanded access to cinematic heritage but also reshaped the relationship between viewers and films, creating new forms of appreciation and interaction.Drawing on the works of scholars such as Malte Hagener, Christian Keathley, Antoine de Baecque, and Susan Sontag, the study analyzes the theoretical underpinnings of digital cinephilia and explores the tension between traditional cinephile practices and emerging digital engagements, considering how new technologies have both challenged and enriched film culture.Ultimately, this research aims to provide a comprehensive assessment of contemporary cinephilia, examining its current state, future prospects, and its role in preserving and revitalizing cinema in the digital era. By doing so, it contributes to our understanding of how digital transformations continue to shape our relationship with film.
