Bridge plate fixation performed using a minimally invasive technique, the main fracture fragments are stabilised along the anatomical axis, rather than reducing small fragments, particularly in comminuted fractures. This retrospective study aims to evaluate the clinical and radiographic outcomes of stabilising traumatic femoral and tibial fractures in dogs using a minimally invasive bridge-plate technique. A total of 21 fractures (10 femoral and 11 tibial) from 20 dogs were included in the study. Cases were divided into two groups based on the fracture-reduction method: the “Open But Do Not Touch” (OBDNT) group and the minimally invasive plate osteosynthesis (MIPO) group. While femur fractures were classified in the OBDNT group, the majority of tibia fractures (8/11) were classified in the MIPO group. The mean duration of surgery was 26 minutes (18–60) in the MIPO group and 45 minutes (38–75) in the OBDNT group (P = 0.002).
