Worum geht es in dieser Arbeit?
This study examines the relationship among parents’ digital parenting awareness, their children’s Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) competencies, and family integrity within the context of increasing digitalization. Conducted with 113 parents of primary, middle, and high school students in Selçuklu, Konya, the research utilized the Family Sense of Cohesion Scale, the Digital Parenting Awareness Scale, and the Parents’ Attitude Scale Towards Children’s ICT Use. Data were collected via face-to-face surveys and analyzed using t-tests, ANOVA, and Pearson correlation analysis. The findings revealed that overall digital parenting awareness was high, while family integrity and children’s ICT usage competencies were at moderate levels. A key finding indicates that parents with an average daily screen time of 3 hours or less exhibited significantly higher family integrity compared to those exceeding 3 hours. Additionally, fathers demonstrated higher digital parenting awareness than mothers, and higher parental education levels positively influenced family integrity. Furthermore, a positive correlation was found between digital parenting awareness and children’s ICT usage competency. These results underscore the importance of conscious technology management and parental guidance in preserving family integrity, highlighting the need for targeted digital detox programs and policy interventions.
