ABSTRACT Pneumonia is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in children under five, and early detection plays a crucial role in preventing severe complications. Maternal behavior is an important factor in recognizing early symptoms of pneumonia. This study aims to analyze factors influencing maternal behavior in early detection of pneumonia among under-five children in the working area of Nulle Public Health Center. This research used a quantitative analytic survey with a cross-sectional design. A total of 94 mothers with children aged 0–59 months were selected using systematic random sampling. Data were collected using structured questionnaires based on the Health Belief Model (HBM) and analyzed using chi-square and multiple logistic regression tests. The results showed that most mothers did not perform early detection of pneumonia (60.6%). Bivariate analysis indicated that perceived susceptibility, perceived severity, perceived benefits, perceived barriers, cues to action, and self-efficacy were significantly associated with maternal behavior (p 0.05). Multivariate analysis revealed that self-efficacy was the most dominant factor influencing maternal behavior (OR = 2.594; 95% CI: 1.500–4.486). Self-efficacy is the most influential factor in maternal behavior regarding early detection of pneumonia. Strengthening maternal confidence through health education is essential to improve early detection practices.
