Worum geht es in dieser Arbeit?
Primary cicatricial alopecias belong to a group of chronic inflammatory diseases of the hair follicles that lead to their irreversible destruction and the formation of scar tissue. The complexity of diagnosis, limited therapeutic options, and the lack of unified approaches to treatment necessitate an assessment of the current range of medicinal products available for the pharmacotherapy of this pathology. The aim of the study was to investigate the structure and range of medicinal products on the domestic pharmaceutical market that are used for the treatment of primary cicatricial alopecias. The materials of the study were data on medicinal products registered on the pharmaceutical market of Ukraine as of 01.01.2026. Due to the absence of unified treatment protocols for primary cicatricial alopecias, the selection of medicinal products for marketing analysis was carried out on the basis of an analysis of current international scientific publications, clinical recommendations of professional dermatological associations, and data on the use of medicinal products in real clinical practice. It was established that 118 trade names (TNs) of medicinal products that can be used for the treatment of primary cicatricial alopecias are registered on the pharmaceutical market of Ukraine. By manufacturer origin, imported medicinal products predominate – 91 TNs (79%), whereas the share of domestic medicinal products is 27 TNs (21%). Capsules and tablets account for a significant share of the range – 35 TNs. Among medicinal products for topical use, ointments and creams predominate – 50 TNs, whereas systemic glucocorticosteroids are represented exclusively by injectable dosage forms. By composition, monocomponent medicinal products predominate – 89 TNs (75%), including all medicinal products of isotretinoin, tacrolimus, pimecrolimus, colchicine, hydroxychloroquine, and antibiotics. Combined medicinal products account for 29 TNs (25%) and are represented predominantly by betamethasone preparations for topical use. The results of the study indicate a significant dependence of the studied market segment on imported medicinal products and a limited range of agents for the treatment of primary cicatricial alopecias. The obtained data may be used to substantiate the prospects for expanding the range and developing domestic production of medicinal products for the treatment of primary cicatricial alopecias.
