Vollständiger Abstract
Worum geht es in dieser Arbeit?
Individuals with chronic illnesses, including people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA), will continue to adapt and face various difficulties, including physical, social, and psychological problems throughout their lives. These difficulties can lower their quality of life. One way to cope with the situations PLWHA face is through self-compassion. Self-compassion is a positive construct within an individual that is associated with a kind, caring, and concerned approach to overcoming difficulties, pain, and suffering. This study aimed to determine the role of self-compassion in the quality of life of PLWHA. The study used a quantitative approach with the survey method. The measuring instruments used in this study were the WHOQOL-HIV BREF questionnaire and the Self-Compassion scale. Participants in this study were 88 PLWHA receiving antiretroviral (ARV) treatment. The study used simple regression analysis to analyze the data. The results showed that self-compassion plays a role in the quality of life of PLWHA, contributing ~41.3\% to the quality-of-life improvement. This result suggests that self-compassion can be considered as one topic in intervention programs aimed at improving the quality of life of PLWHA.
