DIAGNOSIS OF THE LEVEL OF ADOPTION OF GREEN LOGISTICS PRACTICES IN FREIGHT TRANSPORT COMPANIES IN LÁZARO CÁRDENAS, MICHOACÁN

The objective of this research was to diagnose the level of adoption of green logistics practices in federal freight transportation companies operating in Lázaro Cárdenas, Michoacán. A quantitative, descriptive, non-experimental, and cross-sectional study was conducted using a structured questionnaire that assessed the dimensions of fleet management, route optimization, energy efficiency, environmental management, and information technologies. The results show a moderate level of adoption of green practices. The sample consisted of 95 production units in the sector, whose managers answered a structured questionnaire with 35 items rated using a Likert scale. Key strengths included widespread preventive maintenance, route planning, the use of GPS systems, fuel consumption tracking, and coordination with customers to optimize deliveries. However, shortcomings were observed in the adoption of hybrid or electric vehicles, vehicle renewal based on environmental criteria, greenhouse gas emissions measurement, environmental certifications, and the formalization of environmental policies. Furthermore, training in eco-efficient driving and staff incentives have limited implementation. The main barrier identified is the high implementation costs, which restrict the adoption of clean technologies and advanced environmental practices. It is concluded that companies have primarily incorporated green actions related to operational efficiency and cost reduction, but they require financing, training, government incentives, and institutional policies that promote a transition to more sustainable transportation systems.
