INTRODUCTION: Adolescence is a period of intense biopsychosocial transformations, in which emotional and social challenges may impact mental health, and school represents a strategic space for the promotion of well-being. OBJECTIVE: To analyze the mental health condition of adolescents, highlighting the influence of psychosocial bonds on their reasons for living, and to discuss the contributions of psychodrama in interface with existentialism in the school context. METHODS: This is a descriptive and exploratory study, with a qualitative and interventional approach, conducted with adolescents from a public school in the countryside of Minas Gerais, Brazil. The intervention consisted of a psychodramatic psychotherapeutic group carried out in ten thematic sessions, supported by group discussions, dramatizations, psychometric scales, and field diary records. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION: Group experiences fostered self-knowledge, empathy, the re-signification of painful experiences, and the projection of more authentic futures. Quantitative analyses indicated moderate levels of anxiety and depression, low to moderate hopelessness, and positive indicators of hope, character strengths, and self-esteem. These findings reveal the coexistence of vulnerabilities and potentialities, reinforcing the relevance of the school as a space for care, prevention, and mental health promotion. Psychodrama proved effective in mobilizing internal resources and strengthening psychosocial bonds. CONCLUSION: The study showed that the integration between psychodrama and existentialism constitutes a significant strategy for adolescent mental health care, promoting resilience, strengthening bonds, and expanding the sense of life in the school context.
