Worum geht es in dieser Arbeit?

The paper presents the results of a study of the sorption characteristics of adsorbents obtained through thermochemical gas-phase hydrophobic modification of the surface of a man-made aluminosilicate raw material – porous foam silicate. The porous structure, the degree and nature of surface modification, and the mechanism of adsorption of emulsified petroleum products from aqueous media were investigated. The total porosity of the foam silicate samples ranged from 84.70 to 88.44%. It was found that after the modifying treatment of the samples, the entire material acquired uniform surface hydrophobicity. The contact angle on the surface of the granules of the hydrophobized foam silicate samples was 142°–145°. As a result of hydrophobization, intense peaks characteristic of carbon were identified in the Raman spectra at a frequency shift of approximately 1350 and 1600 cm-1 both on the surface of the granules of the original raw material and within their bulk. An analysis of the kinetic curves for the adsorption of emulsified diesel fuel by hydrophobized foam silicate samples revealed that adsorption saturation is achieved within 30 minutes (at a 99.8% purification rate). The adsorption isotherm for emulsified diesel fuel obtained with the hydrophobized samples is shown to belong to type II according to the IUPAC classification. A comparison of the approximation coefficients during isotherm linearization shows that the adsorption of emulsified petroleum products for hydrophobic adsorbents based on man-made foam silicate is most likely described by the Langmuir equation. The sorption process in the analyzed time interval is best described by a pseudo-second-order model.
