Young adult attitudes and beliefs regarding the use of vaping: a cross-sectional study

Abstract Objectives To investigate the attitudes and beliefs toward vaping among university students in Northern Jordan, and to explore any gender-based differences in attitudes and beliefs regarding vaping use. Methods A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted, surveying 500 university students in universities in Northern Jordan. Results The study showed widespread e-smoking use, with 62.0 % of participants currently using e-cigarettes. Regarding attitudes, 57.4 % of students expressed negative views toward e-cigarettes, while 42.6 % expressed positive views. 61.8 % expressed doubts about the benefits and safety of e-cigarettes, while 38.2 % expressed strong positive views. Gender-based analysis indicated statistically significant differences. Conclusions There is a need for targeted public health interventions and educational programs to address misconceptions and promote informed decision-making regarding e-cigarette use.
