Ibrahim Rana explores the dental nurse's role in the orthognathic surgery pathway. Aim: To provide dental nurses with an overview of the orthognathic surgery pathway, with a focus on their clinical responsibilities at each stage of treatment. Objectives: To define the clinical stages of the orthognathic pathway, from initial assessment through to post-treatment retention. To outline the responsibilities of the dental nurse within the multidisciplinary team at each stage of the orthognathic pathway. To reflect on communication, documentation, and infection prevention considerations specific to orthognathic care.
