Vollständiger Abstract

Worum geht es in dieser Arbeit?

Abstract PEF (pulsed electric field) ablation uses electric fields to cause irreversible electroporation of cell membranes, which induces apoptosis. Potential advantages include preserved tissue structure around the tumor and reduced local inflammation. Literature on PEF ablation for primary lung cancer is limited. Five patients with lung cancer underwent PEF ablation. Demographic and clinical data were collected on each patient, including pertinent medical history. Of the five patients that underwent PEF ablation, three demonstrated tumor growth after ablation, one demonstrated tumor stability, and one patient died prior to follow-up imaging. This case series of five patients reveals failure of PEF ablation in reducing tumor size, suggesting PEF ablation for lung cancer may not be effective.
